Hope a toggle could be added to make main menu top tool expanded layout in New UI.

The title bar do makes enogh space on large screens. Hope at lease makes it expanded in non-compact layout of New UI. I use both macos and windows a lot in my daily work. This makes a subtle difference when shifting between both platforms, and also makes in-editor git operations over too deep.

Gzgtwz74 if you would like the hamburger menu to be replaced by a usual horizontal app menu on Windows, then in the current version you can already show it in a separate toolbar, see Show main menu in a separate toolbar option in IDE Settings | Appearance & Behavior | New UI. We also plan to allow showing horizontal menu in one line with other widgets, without wasting vertical space, in 2023.2.

This makes a subtle difference when shifting between both platforms, and also makes in-editor git operations over too deep

Could you please clarify what in-editor git operations exactly are hardly accessible for you now? Thank you.

We also plan to allow showing horizontal menu in one line with other widgets, without wasting vertical space, in 2023.2.

Is this still planned?

This feature is already in place since 2023.2. In Windows and Linux, now clicking hamburger expands the menu inline.

Probably, you are interested in the feature IDEA-307238, which is not planned yet. Please upvote and share your opinion.

Thanks, that what I thought your comment meant. I'll follow the one you linked.
