Cannot debug TypeScript in a .Net Core project using Chrome.

I have a bare-bones .Net Core ASP.Net App with TypeScript and I'm trying to run the project in Chrome and debug TypeScript (via the Rider IDE). This is so simple in Visual Studio, but unnecessarily complicated in Rider!!! :( Seems I can either create a JavaScript debug config that doesn't run the .Net Core app (required), or config the default .Net Core profile to launch Chrome - but NONE of the breakpoints are captured!!! And yes, the Chrome extension is installed - I even get the notice showing in Chrome.  I wasted an hour+ of my life on such a simple thing and now I give up.  Switching back to VS for now unless this can be resolved. FireFox seems also unnecessarily complicated to launch for simple debugging.
