Perforce changelist cleanup

I have been primarily using P4V to manage my changelists for months while letting Rider add files to the default changelist when I'm making an edit automatically. I have noticed that Rider has built up a list of changelists that are now submitted to perforce and are no longer needed locally. These changelists don't even show up any more in P4V. However, they still show in Rider.

Is there a way to clean up changelists that have already been submitted in perforce other than going through them manually one-by-one?

Hello David,

Thank you for contacting Rider support.

There is no action that would automatically remove all the non-relevant changelists.

I have the following suggestions for you:

  • Try pressing the red refresh button (Force Refresh) on the left from the list of changelists in the Perforce view;
  • Select all the changelist you need to remove in Rider using Ctrl+Click or Ctrl+A (then unselect relevant changelists via Ctrl+Click), open context menu by right-clicking on any selected changelist and select Delete Changelists;
  • Set the option: File Settings | Version Control | Changelists | Inactive Changelist | When an empty changelist becomes inactive to Remove Silently.

Hope that helps.
Should you have any other questions or difficulties, please let me know.
