Primarily Use Stash instead of Shelf

Is there a way to switch the Commit window to prefer/use stash (git) instead of shelf?
I know I can dig a bit via the Git menu to get to stash, or just go to the CLI. But wondering if there is a setting (or plugin) that adds shelf to the Commit window (icon) or switches the Shelf Silently button to Stash silently.
