Rider causing WindowServer to crash on MacOS Sonoma

Hello.

I'm having issues on MacOS with my WindowServer crashing only when using Rider, after a random period of time, sometimes minutes, sometimes half an hour my whole system locks up and sends me to the login screen. This only occurs when im using Rider, since experiencing the issue, ive used VS code for a few hours with no issues and also ran all the Apple diagnostic tools etc to try and rule out a hardware issue. Anyone else having issues with this?

Edit: Using Sonoma 14.2.1 and the latest version of Rider. Version: 2023.3.2 Build: 233.13135.100

Update - After some messing around I've found that this only occurs when the Lid of my MBP is open and I'm also connected to an external display. This still only occurs when running Rider but I can run it just fine with No External Display or External Display Only just not both together, very strange!

Habe the also issues on Sonoma 14.2.1 and Rider 2023.3.2 Build #RD-233.13135.100, built on December 19, 20

WindowServer is under high CPU load; system is not very responsive any more. The situation occurs with external display and without. But with external display system in blocked so that to work is possible any more.

I am having this exact issue as well, with all the same conditions as Lonelycooler. I have experienced this at three different work stations, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. Different mouse, keyboard, docking station, and monitor at each place.

One thing I might add, it happens when I type. It doesn't matter if I am typing into Rider, a browser URL bar, VS Code, etc. If my typing has been idle for a few minutes and I start to type somewhere, the first keystoke locks my computer, crashes WindowServer, and sends me to the login screen.

Just checked and can confirm the typing thing as well. I’ve also since tried with a new Dell Thunderbolt dock instead of direct to my MBPs hdmi port and with different monitor/keyboard and mouse and still have the issue.

Hello,

All the symptoms point to the following issue that currently affects all JetBrains IDEs - JBR-6451 Window server crash when using "Go To" related actions after upgrading to Sonoma. We are planning to address this issue in one of the upcoming releases. Kindly upvote the issue and click Watch to keep an eye on status updates.

If this behavior is blocking your work, as a temporary measure you may try downgrading to Rider 2023.2.3.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
