Feature Request: Automatic SSL Certificate Installation for First ASP.NET Project Run

Dear JetBrains Team,

As a dedicated user of Rider, I have found it to be an exceptional IDE for .NET development. However, I would like to suggest a feature that could significantly enhance the user experience, particularly for ASP.NET developers.

In Visual Studio, there is a convenient feature that automatically installs an SSL certificate upon the first run of an ASP.NET project. This feature simplifies the setup process and ensures secure communication without requiring additional configuration steps.

Incorporating a similar feature in Rider would greatly benefit developers by streamlining the setup of new ASP.NET projects and reducing the manual steps involved in enabling SSL. It would be a valuable addition to Rider's already impressive feature set and would further solidify its position as a top choice for .NET development.

Thank you for considering this suggestion. I look forward to seeing how Rider continues to evolve and improve.

Best regards,

Thanks for your suggestion, I helped to create a new feature request on YouTrack accordingly.

RIDER-115560 Auto dev cert installation guidance in Rider

Although the exception info points out the root cause of the failure, as you mentioned, if Rider could check local dev certs before running the application, it will bring a better experience.

Thank you for the prompt response and for creating the feature request!

I appreciate your consideration and am glad to see that the team recognizes the value of enhancing the development experience in Rider. I'm excited to see how this feature evolves and look forward to the potential implementation.

If there’s any further input or testing needed from a user's perspective, I would be happy to assist.

Best regards,
