Git Window > Local Changes no longer showing diff

I like having the diff preview available on the local changes window but recently this has disappeared (again). I didn't update. 

My organisation has extremely invasive anti-virus scanning so I can't upgrade past 2023.3 until they grant an exclusion.  Can someone give me the distinct combination of settings required to make this appear again.
