I have a Educational License, but want to use Rider commercially in *addition* to the education license

Hi all,

I have two jobs - I'm a consultant and I'm also a lecturer at an university. For the latter, I have a educational license of the whole JetBrains products. I use some JetBrains products for this educational purpose.

Now Rider has grown into a very solid product that excels Visual Studio in many regards (it's just a “bit” memory and CPU hungry 🙈) so I now want to use it in my commercial life too. Before purchasing, I wanted to ask if this is a supported scenario … have a full JetBrains educational license, and in addition, have a Rider only commercial license, ideally on the same account. Can I then select which Rider license I want to use for the specific installation or how would that work?

If anybody has some experience with that scenario, I'd be happy to hear about it. I don't want to purchase and then run into some unsupported scenario causing me headaches.

Thanks!

In the meantime i was able to find the answer: yes that's perfectly possible, if you have multiple licenses on one account, you can choose the license you want to use on activation.

Hello Bernhard

Sorry for the late reply. I'm glad you've found the answer yourself. You are right — you can choose which license will activate Rider if you have multiple licenses on your account.
