Unit testing broken : after a unit test ran, can't re-rerun of do anything

I have a solution with unit test projects. Everything was working flawlessy until this morning when I've updated Rider to version 2025.1.1  Build #RD-251.26927.67, built on June 27, 2025. For reference I run a Macbook Pro M4 Max here, with Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.

Whenever I run a unit test, not important if the test fail or success, or I set a breakpoint, after the test, I can't set a break point, start another debugging session or whatever. I tried the Stop execution button (shortcut cmd U, s), it does not work. I need to restart Rider. I tried rebooting the Mac, but its the exact same problem. Almost unusable.

Hello Dany,

Thank you for contacting JetBrains Support. I'm glad to work with you on this ticket.

Could you first try to upgrade to the latest version of Rider(2025.1.4) which contains fixes for known issues that might be relevant to this issue? If the issue persists, please provide the information below to help us diagnose the issue:

  • Is it possible to share a demo project that can reproduce the issue? If not convenient to do so, please share the test framework, library version and anything else you think could help us reproduce the issue on our end.
  • Verify if the issue still occurs on a new project created by default template.
  • Collect the full bundle of Rider logs:

    1. Go to Help | Diagnostic tools | Show Log in Explorer/Finder, then clear the existing logs.

    2. Restart Rider

    3. Reproduce the issue;

    4. Collect the full log bundle via Help | Collect Logs and Diagnostic Data;

You can upload the logs to our server (https://uploads.jetbrains.com/) and share the ID.

Regards,

Tom
