Azure devops integration not working in Rider 2025.2.0.1

I had a solution where up until 2 weeks the Git view was showing work items and pull requests etc…
Last week I cloned a new solution from Azure devops and noticed I couldn't get the Git view to show those work items etc…

Now even my other solution isn't showing that anymore?

How can I fix this?

Kind regards,

Tino

Hello Tino,

Thank you for contacting Rider support.

It stopped working because the Azure DevOps plugin maintained by Microsoft got deprecated. So the plugin failed to get updated upon Rider update because there is no version of that plugin compatible with Rider 2025.2.

We have this feature request registered on our tracker and would appreciate it if you could upvote it to demonstrate your interest: RIDER-129342 Add Azure DevOps (with Pull Requests) support. Please watch it for the current state and further updates.

Unfortunately, the only workaround I can suggest at the moment is to downgrade Rider to 2025.1.6 and use the old plugin.

Have a nice day!

Hi Tino,

This is over a year old, but it still comes up when people search for this problem, so here's where things stand now (October 2026).

Microsoft's plugin isn't coming back. There are two free plugins that cover what it did, but which one works depends on your Rider version:

  • Azure DevOps Community is a fork of the Microsoft plugin that someone picked up, so it's probably the closest to what you had: work items, creating a branch from a work item, TFVC, creating PRs. It needs Rider 2026.1 or later.
  • Azure DevOps Integration (by paol0b) has work items with a board and sprints, pipelines and PR reviews. The work item part came in version 4.0, which needs Rider 2025.3 or later. On 2025.2 the newest version you can install is 3.2, which has PRs and pipelines but no work items.

So if you're still on 2025.2, I don't know of a free way to get work items back in the IDE.

If pull requests are all you need, Rider 2026.2 has them built in: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/rider/Work-with-Azure-DevOps-pull-requests.html You can review, vote on, complete and create them there. Commenting from the editor is only in the 2026.3 EAP so far, and Azure DevOps Server 2022 or older isn't supported. RIDER-129342 above was closed as a duplicate of RIDER-27606, so that's the one to follow.

Disclosure: I make a pull request plugin for Azure DevOps myself (Azure DevOps Pull Requests, published as Lesstep). It has no work items, so it won't get you back what you lost. I'm mentioning it for people on Rider 2025.3 or 2026.1 who mostly review PRs, since Rider's own support starts at 2026.2. Reading PRs is free, and voting, commenting, completing or creating them needs a license after a 30-day trial.
