$ExePath$, $TargetDir$, or similar macro to the build path...

Perhaps this is something I can easily create myself but just can't figure it out. 

I would like to add a build event that copies a configuration file (.json) from the solution dir to the build directory. Doing it by hand right now because I can't find, or don't know how to create, a macro that resolves the 'ExePath' in the run/debug configurations. 

It would also be nice if the 'build event' ran if I just build the sln rather than run. It's very probable these are very simple to do and I just don't know what I'm doing. head shake.
