Where are my File Templates?

Not Live Templates but File Templates. I have looked in all documented locations for mac or windows and none of my file templates are there. And they do not sync with setting sync. I would like to make them in one place and use them on my mac and windows machine.

The folders that they are suppose to be in are empty.

Does anyone know where they are stored so I can copy them?

Support's reply to my question for anyone else:

Thanks for contacting us. .NET-specific file templates are stored in the layer-based format. You can find out more about Rider settings in the documentation: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/rider/Rider_Settings.html. By default, file templates are stored in 'this computer' layer.

If you'd like to share such templates, please take the following steps:

  1. Delete your custom file templates and press Save. This will remove the templates from 'this computer' layer. This should be done to avoid conflicts between the layers in the future.
  2. Create them once again, open 'Save' drop-down, and select 'team-shared layer'. The corresponding settings file <SolutionName>.sln.DotSettings is saved in the solution folder after you close your solution.
  3. Add .sln.DotSettings file to your VCS and get it on another machine.
