Rider has been quite disapointing

I've used Intellij on and off over the last decade or so.  It's always been my favorite IDE.  Once I found out about rider, I wanted to switch.  But man has it been painful at times.  Everytime I run my program/run unit tests, it slows to a complete crawl.  As far as I can tell there's nothing Rider is doing.  ANd of course, doing this in visual studio, works fine.
