Rider Debug Configuration for npm script

Answered

I have an npm script in package.json which runs ok from the following configuration

I can then successfully attach to it for debugging.

But when I try to run it in Debug fails instantly.

What configuration do I need to be able to debug using the Debug button?

Hi Brian,

Could you please clarify what exactly happens when you press the "bug" to start debugger?
Also, please share your package.json file. Here is a how-to about uploading files to JetBrains support.

Thanks in advance.

Sofia.

Using the Bug button the following happens:

I have uploaded a screen grab image of the result. It is named "JetBrains Debug functions image.png"

I also uploaded the package.json as "Rider Functions in debug related package.json"

Best regards

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately, the configuration when NPM script runs .net process and then runs a node.js process is not supported in Rider. There is a filed issue in our tracker for watching and voting: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RIDER-35885.

But indeed, If you run the functions, then attach the JS debugger to that second node.js process, it will work.

Please let me know if you have other questions.

Kind regards,

Sofia.
