LightEdit in Rider?

I saw LightEdit "feature" in Intellij, is it possible to run this with Rider?

If yes, how? I tried but it didn't work.

Hello,

Could you try to open a file you want to edit with "File | Open" menu. Can this help you? If not, please describe more details about your use-case.

Strange question. Here is description of how Light Edit works: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/lightedit-mode.html

It should open as separate application (i.e. separate window) where I could quickly view and edit some random text/log and other files.

It's not in the LightEdit description, but on top of that it would be really great if it would be possible to:

  1. Associate file types with this LightEdit as application, so that they open in this stripped down application by default.
  2. Maybe add context menu for it, when I right click on it in file explorer:

Thank you.

It is not yet supported.
Feel free to vote for the issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RIDER-45582.

Thanks.

I doubt many people will vote as they don't know such thing exists at all, but I hope you will add it to your TODO as Intellij supports it.

I agree with Kantix.  If JetBrains support don't know about features, we likely won't ever see this added.

It should be added.  Why not just do as a gift without having to be asked?

Miguel Martin, thank you for the feedback, but regrettably as it was said in YT issue our resources are limited and at the current moment are directed to other priorities. We can change our decision in future, you can track the status by watching the YT issue. Let me know if you have other questions.
