How do I export/import Live Templates? (C#)

All my live templates disappeared from my second workstation. I've exported and imported all settings from my first workstation to my second, but no live templates appeared. When I read the documentation, it says to make sure that Live Templates are checked, but there are no Template related settings listed when exporting settings.

How do I export Live Templates?

Note that I am not using Synced settings since it was not working properly and I didn't want to lose my settings; by exporting them I can have a backup of them saved to version control.

(I guess version might matter. My first workstation is on 2020.2.2 and my second workstation is on 2020.2.1.)

Hello Dave Cousineau

How did you import/export templates?

Live templates are stored on a Computer settings layer. Could you please try to export it? Please, let me know the result and attach a sample of template that is missed if something goes wrong. Also in this case I recommend to update to 2020.3 and try again.

Thanks!

Same problem here. I had to delete settings folder because of this issue https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RIDER-58508 then I import my config backup but live templates are missing.

Alexandra Guk

thanks for the tip, i was able to export my templates

but like the original poster says in the quote, the problem is the docs say there are options to export live templates when exporting IDE settings, but they are not there

Hi M, Ricardo Guzman Velasco

Thank you. You're right, it is an issue with exporting live templates here: RIDER-46006. Feel free to upvote it to be notified about the fix.

Should you have any other questions, let us know. Have a nice day!
