Rider is indexing my HD - Please how to stop

Hello I am using Rider I recently opened it up and it suddenly decided to index and search entire HD for possibly .sln files. It left a navigation tree see below: markwardell - below. I do not want this. Oh the worst side effect is now my CPU overheats when using Rider. see the CPU at 164 F!!! See the Thermometer in the Window header

Help! Help!

Actually it looks like you have chosen Add -> "Attach Existing Folder". Notice it says "Attached" next to your user folder. Just right click it and choose "Detach Folder".

CPU overheating will not be related to Rider, that is a hardware issue. If that temperature is too high you would need to mount your heatsink better or something.

First things First:

When I opened Rider up before All this happened. Rider added a new dialog "Would you llike to scan for solutions" I was surprised and said sure... That is where the trouble began. At that point it added the new folder.and Rider became very sluggish and CPU Temp went through roof immediately. I am trying to Detach as you suggest. It is disabled

How to enable the Detach? My Detach is disabled

Second. Please do not discount the Customer observation on CPU here is timestamped Before launching Rider and After

104F @ 11:35 => launch Rider  => 148 F This is a valid and 100% related observation. Listen to Customer.

One more hint. As I wrote this email I left Rider up as it was scorching my CPU. I did no compiling or running,..

Then finished email and then closed Rider and it confirms it launched the culprit Background Task it is asking me if you wanted to stop it. FYI I never compiled or ran

I'm not JetBrains, just another user.

I'm not sure how the attached folder thing works. I also use Windows not Linux/Mac. It's possible that that option is disabled while it indexes and will become available after. Or it's possible you have opened a folder as a solution or something like that. Or maybe your .sln file is in your user folder instead of its own folder. Those are the things I would look into. I would make a new folder for your solution ("Ping") and then either move the .sln file and the projects to that folder, or make a new solution file and add those projects to it.

Rider will use a lot of CPU but software should be able to utilize CPU without overheating. Overheating is related to the heatsink on the CPU chip not the software. 164F is about 73C. Some sources say that is normal for a CPU under full load, and only temps over 80C would be worrisome.

If JetBrains replies they will have different ideas and might know better what to do about the Attached folder.

Oh okay sorry if i sounded Harsh... And thanks for your help. I thought you were JB. I am thinking there is something I can do to remove 'Detach' that node by editing a text file .sln .idea file or some such.
