CLion with Rider for Unreal

Right now, the pre-reqs for Rider with Unreal list the need for Visual Studio:

Unreal has traditionally been pretty dependent on MSVC, and thus using any other compiler would be an undertaking.  With Rider getting stronger UE support over the years, I'm looking for any stories of success of using Rider's CLion compiler with Unreal.  Or, is there any word on what the future might bring?  I know Rider made their own fork of MSBuild so Rider users can leverage its MIT license easier, and I'm hoping that bodes well for a future where game studio (more than 5 devs)  working with Unreal doesn't need to Visual Studio on top of Rider to build their project.
