Starts minimized

Answered

When I'm starting Rider it now starts minimized and theres nothing I can do about it. Not helpful ;)

Are there perhaps a folder with screwed up settings somewhere that I can erase or is it a complete reinstall that is the recipe for success?

I did a remove / reinstall but it's still locked in minimized mode? Not windows-friendly?

Hi Stefan! You could maximize the window and then select Window > Store Current Layout as Default. Generally, Rider remembers the size of the Window before closing.

Yeahh, my problem is that I can't maximize it since it's just a small icon in my taskbar and nothing happens when I try to open it. Will have to wait for another update, or perhaps another computer since remove/reinstall didn't work.. I guess.

@Stefan Elvestål, You could try removing "C:\Users\%UserName%\.Rider2017.2" folder, please note that all Rider settings will be lost after this.

Hello again.
The problem was that Rider seem to draw its window on my external screen even if thats disconnected.
I connected it and moved my Rider window back to laptop before disconnecting. Better remember to always do that...

Stefan Elvestål Thanks for letting me know! This is a known issue on IntelliJ platform, I have notified Rider team about it. Please watch IDEA-153291 for updates.

Stefan/Julia, are you using Win10 (other windows os may be the same)?  If yes, a temporary work around is:

hold mouse over icon on task bar (don't click)

when the mini window (representation of the app window) shows, right click on it

now left click on move in the menu that opened.

DO NOT USE MOUSE AFTER THE LEFT CLICK

use your keyboard arrow keys to move the window onto your desktop. You will need to think about where it was previously so you slide it the correct direction.

Once you have it back so you can see the top of the application window, you can left click your mouse to let go

Hope this works for you. It's how I've had to do it without loosing all the other configuration, and thanks for voting on the but. If you are reading this because you have the issue too, please vote on the bug, not just make comment. The more votes the sooner it's addressed.
