[Unreal] JetBrains Rider 2022.1.2 , do not allow to edit engine code

Earlier the unreal engine source code was locked and not editable. The scripts used to show up with a small lock icon.
Which was ideal as I didn't want to spoil the engine code.

I don't know how but now the engine scripts are no longer locked and can be edited.
How can I lock them, please help!

Hello Harshad,

Thank you for contacting Rider support.

Would you mind checking if you have the File | Settings | Version Control | Confirmation | Prompt to unlock files set to read-only if you attempt to edit them option enabled?

Have a nice day!

Thank you. At the moment Rider can't virtually lock Unreal Engine files. We have the following feature request on our tracker:

We would appreciate it if you could upvote this issue to demonstrate your interest.

Rider can show unlock prompt when a file is read-only on OS level. As I can see engine sources are read-only on MacOS, hence, on MacOS I always get the Clear read-only status prompt while trying to edit a file. This prompt is controlled by the option in settings I mentioned earlier.

However, on Windows machine I don't see engine sources to be read-only, hence Rider doesn't prompt to unlock it when you try to edit it. As a workaround, you can set the Sources folder to be read-only from its properties. Hope that helps!
