Rider suddenly unable to boot on M1 MacOS 15.4

Today Rider has suddenly stopped working on my M1 Mac Mini, running MacOS 15.4. I'm on the latest version 2024.3.7

It's been a couple days since I used Rider, but everything was working fine before. I just get the immediate “JetBrains Rider quit unexpectedly” system error with the option to report the problem to Apple.

All I can think that's changed in the past few days is installing a couple other applications (that aren't running), but I don't know why LibreOffice or Inkscape would make Rider un-runnable.

I have attempted rebooting, completely uninstalling Rider and reinstalling, but nothing has changed.

Anyone have ideas of what else I can try?

Downgrading to 2024.3.6 and 2024.3.5 did not help.

Hello Philip,

Thank you for contacting Rider support. I am sorry to hear that you experience such an issue. Would you mind archiving everything you have under the /Users⁩/⁨{User}/⁨Library/⁨Logs⁩/JetBrains/Rider2024.3 folder, uploading it to the Upload Service and telling me the Upload ID?

Meantime, you might want to try reinstalling Rider using ToolBox application to see if that helps.

Have a nice day!

Philip, did you by chance change anything in MacOs Settings | Keyboard | Keyboard shortcuts?

Additional note. I assume you experience this known issue: JBR-8422 IntelliJ-based apps (and Fleet) crashes on macOS 15.4 Beta 3 (developer beta)

The fix is already in Rider 2025.1 EAP 9 available for download. If you do not wish using EAP version, you can configure 2024.3.7 to run on Java Runtime containing a fix. Please see the “Solution” section on the issue page.
