RiderLink Crashing on UE5 editor exit

Hi,

I'm having an issue where I cannot close the UE5 editor directly, otherwise I get an exception in RiderGameControl.cpp, line 466/467 during the closing down processes. It seems to be happening pretty consistently.

It looks to be accessing invalid data, I noticed that it's a callback so it could be a timing issue?

Not sure why this would be happening or how to resolve it.

Hello Emanuele.Oliveri,

This behavior looks like a known issue RIDER-87489 Segfault in the RiderLink plugin after exiting Unreal Editor. Regrettably, I cannot suggest any workarounds at this time. Please consider following (★) the linked issue to monitor progress.

Hi Kirill,

Thank you for the heads up on the task :).

I should have updated yesterday, but I think I got kind of a work around by reinstalling it. My steps were:

  1. Completely uninstall Rider and its related components, including old versions I had.
  2. Cleaned up my registry, just in case, with CCleaner.
  3. Removed any linger folders, there was some in AppData, Program Files, etc
  4. Reset my PC.
  5. Reinstalled Rider.
  6. Installed Rider/Unreal Link to the Engine source code.

So far it's not had the issue anymore.

Hi Kirill,

It's happening again, might've only been a one off with it working.

Still not sure why it's happening, will try and see if anything stands out and update any findings.
