MSBuild not detected on Mac

Upon loading a .sln, no projects are loaded due to 'MSBuild is required to load project 'xxx' but it was not found' even though appropriate .NET SDK is installed detected in ‘.NET CLI executable path’:
 

anyone stumbled upon the same issue? So far I've tried:

• installing a newer .NET SDK
• cleaning Rider's cache and restarting
• forcing correct bundled MSBuild by deleting whole Rider configuration
